Frequency ↔ Period ↔ RPM

Edit any field — frequency, period, RPM or angular velocity update together.

One quantity, four units

Frequency, period, rotational speed and angular velocity are the same thing in different clothes:

So 1 Hz is one cycle per second, a 1 s period, 60 RPM and 2π ≈ 6.283 rad/s. Period units matter in embedded timing — a 1 µs period is 1 MHz, a 1 ms period is 1 kHz — so pick s, ms, µs or ns to match your timer ticks. RPM links the electrical world to anything spinning: a motor, encoder or fan.
